Brit has the head and the heart to make the 49th District stronger.
BRIT’S BEGINNINGS
A daughter of Northeast Ohio, Brit is proudly grounded and gritty.
Raised in Wellsville by a steelworker dad and stay-at-home mom who later became a social worker, Brit was taught the value of hard work and community service at a young age. Diagnosed as an infant with Type 1 diabetes, she benefited from her father’s union-negotiated health care coverage, giving her an early understanding of how life-altering good insurance can be for families.
Like others from small Ohio towns and parts of District 49, she has seen her hometown hit hard by the opioid epidemic and bad economic policies. Given the federal government’s recent Medicare cuts would result in the closure of the hospital in East Liverpool - in which both she and her father were born - she is ready to defend healthcare for Ohioans.
SERVING OUR COUNTRY
Over the course of her 16-year career as a diplomat and public servant, Brit traveled to more than 30 countries as a representative of the United States, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Tunisia, and South Africa. She negotiated resources with federal legislators and foreign governments, advocated for communities, and designed numerous public policies, including how the United States could counter Chinese influence at home and abroad. Rising to the role of Policy Director for U.S. Agency for International Development, she helped shape the National Security Strategy and numerous other policies to improve American lives.
Brit has developed and implemented economic development programs and policies that have improved livelihoods around the globe. She will use that expertise to do the same for the people of Ohio. Her experiences representing our Nation around the world and serving its National Security interests make her the kind of patriot District 49 and the State deserve.
CANTON IS HOME
Sometimes, the road back takes you forward.
Brit’s pursuit of higher education is what first brought her to Canton. The first in her family to receive a bachelor’s degree, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Malone College with a degree in History and Political Science. Her formative experiences during her time at Malone – interning at the National First Ladies Library and Museum, enjoying Monument and Stark Parks, working at the Belden Village Mall – helped to lead her back to the district to raise her own children.
Since leaving USAID in 2023, Brit can now be found cheering at the Jackson Township soccer and t-ball fields, hiking with her boys at one of our local, state, or national parks, enjoying a bite downtown at our amazing restaurants, working out at the Paul & Carol David YMCA, checking out books at Stark Libraries, or working in her garden. She and her family know firsthand what a great place the 49th District can be, but Brit believes it could be even stronger and that she is the best candidate to fight for the 49th.
BRIT’S BOTTOM LINE
Brit is tired of political rhetoric and wants results for Ohioans.
Pursuing public office was never in her plans, but she is passionate about public service and believes she can do the most good for all residents of the 49th. Like many of you, she is exhausted and deeply troubled by the polarization, profiteering, and overall direction of both our Nation and State. There is no reason that Ohio should have one of the lowest median incomes because it also has one of the nation’s highest GDP’s. There is no reason that Central Ohio should be seeing most of the growth in the state, while other areas remain stagnant or decline. With her significant experience in program building and policy development, and her desire to raise her family here in Northeast Ohio, Brit knows she has both the head and the heart to make District 49 stronger.
