As a mother, lifelong Type 1 Diabetic, and wife of a physician, Brit understands how critical healthcare is to the ability to thrive. No woman should be saddled with crippling debt after giving birth, and no chronically ill patient should be without access to resources and care. Healthcare workers are overwhelmed and patients are waiting too long or having to drive too far for care. Increasing healthcare access and keeping the Government out of the exam room are top priorities.

Workers are the backbone of the American success story, but today it’s harder than ever to get a raise, buy a home, or be able to retire. This disconnection between dreams and reality is at the heart of deteriorating American morale, central to the policies Brit would support. She wants to support local businesses and workers because one can’t thrive without the other.

Without investments in our public schools and academic freedom in our State’s once thriving higher education system, Ohio will fall behind other states in the nation. Brit wants to support an education system -  from preschool to post-grad - that keeps our best and brightest right here in Ohio and gives opportunity to anyone willing to work hard and with a desire to learn.

Police, Firefighters, Teachers, Park Staff Librarians, and Medical Staff are just some of the community professionals who enable our District to thrive. Whether they are keeping people safe, healthy, or educated, Brit will support them all, the same way they work to keep her children and community safe and strong each and everyday.

Brit has experienced the unfair and opaque Ohio property tax system firsthand. She is deeply frustrated that leaders have decided to defund public education and other essential services in response to this problem. Brit believes in a transparent, fair and common sense approach to taxes and will work to make this a reality.

Affordable energy costs to meet growing demand and an environment that is free of dangerous pollution should go hand in hand. Current policies aren’t enough. I would fight for access to the latest technology and the best protections available to keep Ohioans safe and poised for economic growth.

Land conservation and historic preservation are near and dear to Brit’s heart. As an avid park goer and environmental scientist, and a former intern at our very own Saxton-McKinley House, she deeply appreciates human connection to our stories and the land. She will look to keep Ohio and the District strong on these issues.

A strong middle class is essential to a thriving community. As Brit watches the rich get richer and the poor get poorer in Ohio and the District, she is concerned. Any policy Brit supports will ensure the middle class will benefit because it’s good for the economy and it’s the right thing to do. She also understands how to break the cycles of poverty and will work to protect and expand those resources every day.

Government corruption at the state level has reached unprecedented levels in recent years, as shown in the documentary Ohio Confidential.  Brit has no personal business interests and she is here to serve and represent all the people of the 49th District with honor, integrity and transparency.
